The Far Hills Hunt - Race Horse and Jockey

So this is a new type of post for Meat the Veggie… An Event Post!  And what an event to kick it off.

Our Tailgate Number

The Hunt is easily the best weekend in New Jersey.  I look forward to this event every year, and this year it completely lived up to and exceeded my every expectation.  Approximately 30,000 people gathered to pretend to watch a horse race.  Really, we enjoyed one another’s company and enjoyed an incredible day!

Event: The Far Hills Races, aka The Hunt

Location: Far Hills, NJ

Date:  October 23, 2010 – The races typically take place on the Saturday closest to October 20th.

Attendees: All are welcome!!  But, you do need to buy tickets…

The Hunt Grounds

Food:  Each tailgate spot is responsible for their own food, and people really do a variety of things with a variety of budgets… We had pizza and snacks.  We went Ultra High Class- Fruit by the Foot, Goldfish, Rainbow Chips Deluxe.  You think of the childhood snack you loved, we had it!   And we ate A LOT.  But we drank even more…

Our Spot-- All Set Up!

Drinks: We had all sorts of drinks, but there were 3 stand outs… Coors Light, of course, needs no introduction.  The lesser known of the major players were Zing Zang Bloody Mary’s and Firefly Vodka with ice tea.  Zing Zang apparently is the “best bloody mary mix ever” according to Max; I wouldn’t know because he makes REALLY Spicy Bloody Mary’s, and my mouth can’t take that heat.  Firefly is a little more friendly to my taste buds, since it simply tastes like ice tea…  And they both were a huge hit!  The Bloody Mary’s warmed everyone up in the chilly fall morning, and the Firefly was refreshing in the warm afternoon sun!

Beautiful Day for a Race

I love all my friends and we all had a great time… for charity!
